Optional Extras

Stabiliser Bar...£60 - the stabiliser bar is designed to give stability to the fixed panel section of your enclosure, and we always recommend them as they provide both a structural, aswell as a safety, feature to the enclosures. However, should you not want to utilise a bar you can try without first and add at a later date, should you feel the need post installation. We offer a number of variations ranging from horizontal bars which can be angled to vertical bars with ceiling plate fixings and bars with T-junctions. Have a look at the section in the fixtures area of the site for further details on the bars or give us a call to discuss the necessity and best solution for your design.

"Belt and Brace" L-Style Wall Clamps ...£49 per clamp (including glass processing) - aswell as the u-channel used for fixed screens some folk like to belt and brace things, so we offer extra L-style wall clamps to use aswell as the channel. It's probably more likely you would only consider these on fixed panels you're hinging doors from and it's certainly arguable whether you need you need to add them if using channel for fixing and more than likely utilising a stabiliser bar, it's just there are those who like to really belt and brace and we offer these as an option to do so.

Easy Clean Coating ...£40 per metre square if applied by us OR £30 for a self-applicator bottle - the surface protection coating can either be applied by us at time of fabrication, or applied by you on site. The coating provides a surface which encourages water to run off quicker so it doesn't get the chance to hang around and stain the glass. It's probably more of a consideration should you have hard water (and let's be honest it's a bit of clever marketing to call it "easy clean" as you'll no doubt still need to clean your shower screen, with or without magic coating!-)

'Low Iron Glass' (extra clear glass) ... add 15% to door/panel cost - the low-iron glass is basically a very clear glass. Glass has a green colouring due to its iron content. Low iron glass has less iron and as such, is less green!! It's good for preserving the clarity of your tile colours (or aqua board etc..) inside your enclosure, especially if the tiles are very light or white. It's also very easy to walk into though as it can be a tad invisible if there's no light reflecting off it.

Bronze or Grey Tinted Glass ...POA - fairly self explanatory this one - aswell as clear glass we also offer bronze and grey tinted glass should you decide that you want to add a touch of smoky mystique to your shower screen.

So a major part of the service we provide is to take all of the technical headaches and worries away from you, when creating your bespoke shower enclosure. Essentially you provide the details of the aperture (or space you wish to fill with glass) and we work everything out to allow for fixtures, fittings and play (when installing). So if you're reading this section and care very little about the technicalities then it's perfectly fine to move on and leave it up to us to provide a few options and inform you how best to deal with the space you want to add your screens to, then design and fabricate the glass to fit your enclosure perfectly without you getting wholly involved in the technical side of things!

However, if you're someone who likes to deal in the technicalities then read on as there's a good bit of technical mumbo jumbo ahead!

With it being bespoke the size of the shower door is up to you but there are a few things to bear in mind! Firstly, any shower door with a width up to and including 700mm will work with our standard hinges. Any door above 700mm you need to utilise the next category up, with the offset option carrying a width up to 860mm and the central baseplate option going up to 915mm. Should you absolutely need a wider door than 915mm then we do offer some which will go up to 1000mm!! The prices quoted above incidentally are all based on door widths being 700mm or less, so if you do require a door width wider than 700mm please note that it would add to the above example prices.

Initially the absolute max height recommended by our ironmongers is 2600mm but that is really tall and most doors range between 1900mm to 2000mm. Also, something to bear in mind with very tall doors (i.e. doors a good bit taller than 2 metres) is that glass can warp when being toughened and the taller a door is any potential warp can be more noticeable. Our toughening process aims to have as flat a panel as possible, of course, but there are still industry accepted tolerances for warping of toughened glass. Our ironmongers for example have an argument for adding a third hinge when you go way past 2 metres, i.e. they say it may not be structurally required, but they feel should you be hinging a door from a fixed panel a third hinge may help pull both together and thus alleviate any potential warp (although this is just a recommendation and isn't something you must do, as the possibility of a warp is just that; a possibility)!

So not wanting to sound repetitive, but with us being a bespoke shower screen fabricator we can make pretty much shape the glass to any size you need, such as a reduced height screen or a shower door with an angled or sloping top, but there is one quite important point to be aware of when shaping glass if using it as a shower door and that is that you cannot shape the hinging side of a shower door if doing so to allow for a sloping ceiling. It's perfectly possible to shape the closing side (as seen in a good few of the images above) but should you shape the hinging side it can cause a number of issues with the opening ability of the door (the most important being that should you shape the hinging side due to a sloping ceiling and have the door tight to the sloping ceiling you simply will not be able to open the door!). So if the wall you plan to hinge from is sloping or noticeably out of square please call to discuss the ways we get around this curious issue.

In most instances this will be dictated by the room, i.e. if you have a sink next to the shower enclosure you can't hinge a door directly at that point and open outwards (as you would collide with the sink). You can, of course, have the door open inwards, or you could have a panel of glass fixed to the wall first and hinge the door from the panel. Another reason for deciding on where to hang the door from could be aesthetic but one of the primary reasons folk hang a door directly from a wall is because it is the most cost effective solution! However, you must make sure you have a substrate such as timber/brick/block behind your tiles to anchor the hinges from, so if you're not sure on the structure of the wall behind your tiles this may force you to hinge from a fixed panel first (or a hard jamb hinging strip).

So there you go! Hopefully the above helps in your shower screen design quest (and doesn't create confusion!-) More than likely it's given you a few pointers but you still require our exceptional expertise (if we do say so ourselves) and there is no doubt you have questions unanswered above, so please call and ask away on 01642 648444 or email sales@bathingbliss.co.uk and we will help create the finest bespoke shower enclosure solution while also showing you the best approach to keep the cost within budget.

Incidentally, we also have a whole section of the website devoted to the fixtures and fittings so should you want to view the bits and bobs we use in more detail then have a look at the fixtures section by clicking the fixtures link at the top of the page or here.

Sandblasted and Acid-Etched Glass
We offer sandblasting and acid-etched finishes for vanity screening. Acid-etched is smoother to touch, but must be applied to the entire panel. Blasting is coarser but can be applied in sections. Below are examples of sandblast designs but you can add your own should you feel the creative urge. Acid etched glass adds approx. 15% to the price but blasting is POA.
A Few Technical Details... (and quite a bit of text!-)

The frameless glass shower enclosure has become quite possibly the most important addition to modern bathroom design. The sheer scope of possibilities on offer though can sometimes create, in what should be an enjoyable procedure, a tiny bit of of a headache! Especially when amongst the plethora of options there doesn't appear to be the actual solution you need, and only a bespoke shower enclosure will work!!

That's where we can help, as we've had many years experience now assisting in the design procedure and helping a great number of customers create their very own bespoke, made to measure, glass shower panels cut to size with absolute minimum fuss.

As we've repeatedly pointed out (ad nauseam some could argue) throughout the site we like to keep it simple. So below are a number of different options broken down into a few groups which we hope cover most requirements, but please remember we are a bespoke fabricator and all of our products are made-to-measure, so do call 0845 0450336 or 01642 648444 if your shower enclosure design does not appear below, or even if it is below but you have quite different dimensions to our guide sizes. Alternatively, email us on sales@bathingbliss.co.uk

Without sounding trite, we are here to help (and are a nice bunch of folk) and all we require to provide a quote is some basic measurements (no need for mm perfection at the quote stage) of your aperture (i.e. the area which you wish to fill with glass). We can then provide a quote to include the glass custom made to your exact requirements and to include all the necessary fixtures and fittings. Should the quote be of interest more accurate dimensions are then required, but don't worry about making sure the glass will fit as we work out all of the worrisome technical details for you!!

This section deals with shower enclosures which are required for only one side of a shower tray/base (or floor if not using a shower tray). There are a number of variations for a single sided enclosure and we've attempted to cover a fair number below but please bear in mind that we are a bespoke shower screen fabricator and create solutions for virtually all requirements, so if you don't see the solution you require below please give us a call on 01642 648444 to discuss your design or email sales@bathingbliss.co.uk

Example Prices (including vat, excluding delivery)
Please bear in mind that the prices below are for guide purpose only as we are a made-to-measure, bespoke shower enclosure fabricator and can make any size shower enclosure required.

We have two options for bespoke bifold shower enclosures. You either opt to have the guide bar at the top, and create a traditional type of bifold design or you go for a "free swinging" option which doesn't have the solidity in structure of a guide bar system but offers the ability to be utilised with sloping ceilings (i.e. lofts) and can also, if required, fold "concertina-style" back against the wall when not in use. Below are a few example prices for both options

The made to measure frameless sliding shower enclosures we offer can be utilised as simple single sided shower screen solutions, or multiple sided sliding enclosures, but there are a number of scenarios in which they can be applied so we are currently working on a dedicated bespoke sliding shower enclosure page. In the meantime, however, below are price examples for the most basic sliding shower solutions we offer and please call/email for more details, if required.

Multiple Sided Shower Enclosures
This section deals with custom shower enclosures which are required for more than one side of a shower tray/base (or floor if not using a shower tray). There are even more variations for a multiple sided enclosure than single sided enclosures and we've attempted to list a good few of the more common solutions below but like we've mentioned many a time throughout the site we are a bespoke shower screen fabricator so we can make nearly all shower screen requirements, so if you don't see your exact solution below we can make it we just haven't shown it as an example! Then either call us on 01642 648444 to discuss your design or email sales@bathingbliss.co.uk

Example Prices (including vat, excluding delivery)
Please bear in mind that the prices below are for guide purpose only as we are a made-to-measure, bespoke shower enclosure fabricator and can make any size shower enclosure required.

The pentagonal enclosures can be fabricated in two ways. The best way is to mitre cut the glass edges and utilise the specially designed 135 degree hinges and angled seals. The fixed panels will then meet the doors with equal gaps and aesthetically it's more pleasing. The other route is to not mitre cut the glass edges and use 180 degree angle adjustable hinges. It's less than ideal as it creates larger gaps between the panels and door which are more difficult to seal so definitely not as fine a solution as the mitred glass route, however it does save on cost, if budget is key. Below are the prices for both options but to discuss further please call 01642 648444 or email sales@bathingbliss.co.uk

Angled (sloping) Shower Enclosures

This section deals with custom cut angled shower screens, for when you have an angled or sloping ceiling (i.e. in a loft) and need either a shaped or reduced height solution. Now, you may look through the details below and think they're the same as those above, except the screen is sloping! Well, you would be right!! However, we felt it would be good to devote a section to angled shower screens so you can see how they look, and how they affect the cost! Also, as above, we've only included a few designs so if you don't see your solution it's perfectly possible to make it, we just haven't shown it as an example, so give us a call on 01642 648444 to discuss your design or email sales@bathingbliss.co.uk
